This project will be done by anna and me together...A DIGITAL DIARY ( not named yet ! ) ..anna suggested this really nice app. and we feel it would be very interesting to do... :Smile

We plan to make a Digital Diary which would  let you keep a day to day record of your activities, personal and business info ,important events, articles , images, all sorts of data, etc etc in a secure and organized way. ..We will try to include a whole lot of additional features..as many as possible...

I really hope this would be possible to make..considering that we would have to store so much data   :-(
But still..hoping for the best...

Waiting to begin  ....  :-)

Thats a great idea. There are a few other things i would like to suggest in case you're looking for feature addition. The ideas I'm looking for seem useful to me and are ones which can be done using the .NET framework afaik. If you want to add aesthetics then you can use something that NT based windows versions have. (Dunno if it is mentioned in the book or now though :Smile)
I'll definitely speak up during feature suggest time BigGrin

Good luck to both of you. I'm sure you two will do great

Greetings and salutations to all!

:hip: Yo! My first technical post! And it's all thanks to her....

And thus I end my 'no posts' period with this post....

About the project... I guess all that needs to be said at this stage has been covered...I hope I will be able to contribute a bit more this time...

With fresh hopes and renewed vigour,

Anna

P.S:It wasn't entirely my idea... we both came up with it....and I hope it will be a succesful project....best of luck to  everyone!

Greetings and salutations!

After much deliberation, the list of possible features for digital diary have been decided. The basic abilities of this software (some are speculative) will be:

1.Data management:
   - Creation/updation of user databases
   - Security of all stored information

2.Access to any file/application as chosen as a 'favourite' by the user, depending on current mode of operation:
   - Different modes such as planning, recreation, browsing or general to access all features at one time(thereby it              isn't just a planning tool)

3.Web browsing capabilities(This is just to give the diary a few more options...)

The features are as biven below, under their respective capability modules:

1) Registration capability module:
   - Creation of user accounts(databases)
   - Log in/out of the diary after registration using password entry(encryption to be used)

2) Diary/planner capability module:
   - Allows a registered user to create
-> Notes(Daily notes or things that need to be written unexpextedly during work)
-> Tasks(prioritised as per user requierment or default FEFP (first entered first priority)
-> Contacts(A database of contacts with the regular features such as email, address, phone no,website, etc.)
-> Reminders(time based reminders that can be rescheduled*)
-> Drafts(Messages that need to be sent at a later time or need to be saved for future refernce...an attempt will be made to try to automate the correspondence, i.e. to be able to send drafts using the diary)
   - A built-in text editor with
-> The regular features such as font and font size, color selection
      -> A range of custom-made smileys
-> An additional set of customisable buttons for formal correspondence (eg.: some people like to write 'yours thankfully' at  the end of a formal letter and instead can use a button to append that to the end of a  letter without having to type it out**)

3) User interface module:
   - Basic elements such as a tree view, quick access panels and calendar facility
   - A user modifiable interface, as per the mode selected by the user
   - A general user interface, showcasing all available options, in case a mode is not selected/ the first time a user registers/ that being the user's choice

Whew!

So much for now.... the execution of these features depends upon their feasibility in terms of availability of such coding options and the time factors...and the official logo will be released once the back-end is done and we begin with the front end...

Some of the features mentioned here may NOT be exclusive but as a very wise man told me, we make applications here with the main purpose of learning and we cannot do something revolutionary every time.... a very wise man indeed....

Oh and these
* - For users who know they procrastinate (tend to repeatedly postpone their tasks...like me...)can alter the reminder to  become a 'deadline' and hence that particular task cannot be rescheduled
**- People are getting lazier these days...

are just there to lighten the oh-so-heavy post....

Anyways, with really tall (almost dizzying) claims to live upto,

Yours hopefully,

Anna

Can't wait for a running version of the app to burn run.
* John Anderton whistles and walks away innocently (a)

PS: This is a really bad feature request but can we have some sort of facility to keep note of what parties people owe us? My mysql database is fine but I just wanted to know if this was possible, it would be a lot more portable :x
